Default Medical Services in New Zealand on Resident Visa

    Hello Members -

Can you help me in understand, whether I can use the NZ Medical services on a Resident Visa, I'm new in NZ (just 5 days in NZ). Is there any requirement of staying in NZ for XX number of days OR paying taxes before using the Medical services? Your advise will be appreciated.

You need to register with a GP to get their cheaper rates. Non-registered is more expensive.

I’ve only ever used GP & ACC stuff after a sporting incident and that was all free / small fee, I’m not sure about other procedures - I think a lot is free but there’s a wait list.

Agreed. Get registered as soon as you can. But you can get healthcare straight away if you need it, by paying, till your registration comes through. This overview may help. https://www.newzealandnow.govt.nz/li...hcare-services
