Good luck with everything you're planning now.
Hi all,
Just an update on my brother's SMC application. He received an email yesterday from immigration and suggested that you have applied for SMC so you are eligible to apply for the 2021 Resident Visa.
it is frustrating, as my brother, has applied for SMC EOI in September 2019,
and the application was submitted in November 2019.
The case officer requested additional documents in July 2021.
and now start the process again. Have anyone faced this kind of situation.
I can see, the only option left by immigration is he has to apply now for the 2021 Resident Visa.
Wow this thread is still happening! Best of luck to all, I hope 2022 will start to move the gears a bit as borders ease open, but I might have despaired myself if we'd had to wait so long. All the best

Hi Folks,
Apparently, INZ ha resumed processing offshore application.
Earlier today (21 Dec 2021), INZ had sent a generic email stating the following:
The Government has removed the restriction that prevented first-time resident visa holders granted a resident visa offshore from travelling to New Zealand.
As the holder of a resident visa, you are eligible to enter New Zealand. Restrictions apply
Was surprised to see that INZ had started granting visa without even assigning a case officer . My 3 year wait (see my signature for timeline) was not in vein after all.
Kidding aside, with a dollop of skepticism and a ounce of hope , logged into INZ website and checked the status - no change - still showing pending.
Assumed, INZ had sent this generic mail to everyone. Asked a friend who is also an applicant and he confirmed the same.
Lo and behold, a few hours later, INZ sends another disappointing mail, which states the following:
Earlier today (21 December 2021 NZDT) you received an email from Immigration New Zealand that incorrectly identified you as the holder of a resident visa. That email was sent to you in error and you have not been granted a resident visa. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.
What an colossal disappointment !

Gosh that’s shocking!
You’d be granted a job search visa though, not residency, I think?
