In the EOI you can get 10 bonus if you have 3-5 years work experience in an area of absolute skills shortage (if you meet the requirements in the long term skill shortage list).
Does this mean that the absolute skills shortage work experience only starts counting when you have reached the 3 years post-qualification work experience?
So only if you have 6 years of post-qualification work experience, you can claim the 10 points because you actually have 3 years absolute skills shortage experience? (Because the absolute skills shortage experience started counting one you reached 3 years post-qualification work experience)
Many thanks
The operational manual is a bit vague around this;
SM7.30(b)(ii) is the only mention around this that I can find, and merely states that the work experience must "meet the specifications for that occupation". That said, if one takes a strict interpretation of that, I suspect that your assumption is likely correct (technically speaking, any work experience prior to meeting the skills shortage list requirements isn't "meeting the specifications for that occupation" as far as the skills shortage list in question is concerned). Would need one of the forum LIAs to definitively answer though: this is an educated guess on my part and may or may not reflect how INZ sees things.
