    Hello,

Does anyone know what is happening with offshore applications from 2018? Ours was just going to second person check (for the second time) when lockdown struck. Emails to our case worker are bouncing back, so I have sent it to a supervisor I contacted back in 2019 - hopefully she is still there.

Does anyone know if they plan to process 2018 applications, or if we will be required to submit a new application? It was such an expensive process I hate to think it will be money down the drain!

    Thank you

There haven't yet been any announcements about what will happen when things can move forward again, and that won't be until the pandemic is under better control in other countries.

I know i have my residence already, but I have other family members who applied early 2020, and so still have an interest!

INZ website do not seem to be updating their processing timeframe. it still states that as of 29 March 2021, they were processing non prioritized SMC & WTR applications from August 2019.

Trying to find some numbers myself, i have come up with the following:

In an FYI response dated 11 May 2021, INZ advised there was 1 onshore non priority application submitted in July 2019 & 262 onshore non priority applications submitted in Aug 19 which were unallocated, 578 for September and so on and so forth... Focusing on the 1 from july and the 262 from August 2019, this is a total of 263 up until end august 2019 which were unallocated (as of 11 May 2021)...

In another FYI response dated 19 May 2021, INZ advised they had allocated the following non priority SMC & RFW applications:

Starting from 29 March 2021, which is when their website says they were processing from August 2019:
    29 Mar 21 - 80 applications
    5 Apr 21 - 20 applications
    12 Apr 21 - 31 applications
    19 Apr 21 - 4 applications
    26 Apr 1 - 39 applications
    3 May 21 - 46 applications
    10 May 21 - 83 applications
    17 May 21 - 101 applications

This is a total of 404 applications. Which would mean based on their own numbers. they should at least be processing applications from Mid September? Could give some hope they are moving.

Is the Immigration Profiling Branch (IPB) and Specialist Assessment Team (SAT) one and the same?

If that's the case, my application was sent to IPB when I applied for a PhD student visa back in 2016; now in 2021, my case has been diverted to the SAT team with relation to my SMC residence visa. Is this the normal process?

The IPB was reorganized and renamed as the SAT.

It quite often happens that someone gets checked out by them all over again when they apply for a residence visa, or a longer term work visa, in place of the student or short-term work visa they had originally. The NZ government require INZ and SAT to be super-careful about an applicant's background when they're hoping to be a permanent fixture in the country.
