    Good luck, CalR.
My LIA told me, we had to get a character waiver and she said only they may apply for one, and that was for work visa, when we did residency we got a new advisor and the same thing was said by advisor, that you only a LIA can submit a character waiver on your behalf. If that is not the case I feel highly annoyed as we paid a lot of money for a LIA for both work and residency visa just because of the character waiver

Hmm. Well, there are two LIAs not to recommend.

I am in a similar position to the OP - I have a DUI from just over 5yrs ago I got while on holiday in the US. Itís since been expunged etc, my native police cert is clear.

Iíve recently been offered a job at an accredited employer on a talent work visa, I declared everything up front and attached an extra document explaining what happened, my extreme remorse and reform since then.

I expect Iíll have similar contact for a character waiver in due course as I only submitted my application just over a week ago.

Iíve been quite anxious about what might happen, but finding this thread has helped with what to expect, I hope it all goes well for you

The more time that has passed without reoffence, the better. Good luck.

So just to add to this, I applied for my visa on the 11th and received an email saying my talent visa was approved today (22nd). I wasnít asked to do any form of character waiver application or anything, which is what I was expecting.
