Default Claiming for partner skilled points.

    Hi Everyone!

hoping someone can answer my query, Am I able to claim 20 points for a partner who's on a low skilled visa for EOI?

for long term skill shortage for Registered nurses here in NZ (1yr and 6 months work exp) can we claim points for it? as the option in the calculator is "2-5" yrs, can we include overseas experience?

Thank you in advance, long time member and lurker here.

A principal applicant’s partner's offer of skilled employment or current skilled employment in New Zealand qualifies for 20 points if:

the employment meets the requirements for skilled employment set out in SM6; and
the principal applicant's partner is included in the application; and
the partner meets the English language requirements for principal applicants (see SM4.15); and
an immigration officer is satisfied that the principal applicant and their partner have been living together for 12 months or more in a partnership that is genuine and stable (see F2.10.1) and otherwise meet Partnership category criteria (see F2.15).
and here is the SM6 regulation the partner's job must meet. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/#66788.htm

I don't understand the second part of your question - if your partner's job meets those requirements, you can claim 20 points for the fact of employment, but there isn't any category for partner's work experience.

Thank you J&M i got my answer for the 1st question so technically since it's on low skilled level 4, we cannot claim for 20 points.

Apology if the second question wasn't clear, what i mean is for the principal applicant as a RN there is a question for work experience. does overseas experience counts?

Ah... Here are all the regulations. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/opsmanual/#66796.htm Yes, experience overseas can count, as long as it was post-qualification in a comparable market. It's all spelled out there.
