Default Showing passport with resident visa at doctors office

    Hi all

I was a bit surprised when I was asked to show proof of my resident visa despite having an NHI number when I went to an after hours clinic. This has never happened in the past and frankly I am not sure if the person at the reception was targetting me in particular. They said it is a rule that all immigrants have to carry their passport and resident visa and show it at the after hours office. Can someone please let me know what this is all about?

Thanks, looks like it is the policy for some clinics. I was never asked until now in the same clinic and was told that it is something that has started since May 1st for immigrants!

Happened to my husband once when registering with a GP clinic/PHO.
