Hi all,
One of my friends intends to apply to become a Registered Nurse in NZ.
She will apply when still in her home country. The process is quite long.
As part of the Registration process she will need to do a CAP (Competence Assessment Programme) in New Zealand.
She is from France, a Visa waiver country.
Question 1:
Can she just enter New Zealand with the NZETA which allows her to stay for 3 months and do her CAP ? The whole family (husband + 2 kids) will take the opportunity to visit NZ while she does her CAP.
She intends to fly back to her country and apply for jobs from there after her Registration is approved and apply for the work Visa and enter NZ again when her work Visa is approved.
I told her that they should tell immigration when landing as visitors that she is here to complete a CAP for her Registration so as to be completely open and that she will be visiting the country as well.
Is that the right option for her and her family?
Question 2:
And if during her CAP she luckily finds an employer ready to offer her a job as a Nurse once registered, could she apply for a Work Visa (Talent Accredited if the remuneration threshold is reached or Essential Skills if not) while on her Visitor visa?
Many thanks in advance.
