Well, yes, because the 2019/20 reporting period ends on 30 June 2020! There's only 5 months of data in that reporting period (data current as of 4 December 2019) compared with 12 months for the others.
If applications for the remaining 7 months (December 2019 to June 2020) are decided at a similar rate to the first 5 months, then 2019/20 will actually have a slight increase compared with 2018/19.
Still no movement in the SMC queue, according to an email reply received from an SMC manager today - the queue is still stuck at 11 December 2018. When I asked what the plan was to clear the backlog that is still growing, the answer was "The Manukau Office is currently resourced to meet the New Zealand Residence Programme as set out by the Cabinet (of New Zealand Government). The new programme has yet to be announced."
