Default Oversubscribed' residence category 12k under lowered target

Another news article from RNZ on immigration but this is now focussing on the SMC visas and the current prioritising certain applicants. Seems the government is coming in under target after slamming on the brakes on may, worryingly I suspect this will lead to a lower target next year due to false lower numbers this year.

Fingers crossed this may at least be seen this time. We aren't overly optimistic it will help much but with 12000 spaces up for grabs we're hoping they will stay looking at the regular queue again.

It's like another rewrite of what we already know... what's new.

"New Zealand continues to be an attractive destination and application volumes have been increasing steadily across all categories. The Skilled Migrant Category is now over-subscribed. We are also seeing an increase in the level of risk and complexity in applications."

Why are they still accepting more and more applications and leaving people in the dark if they dont want more immigrants.
