    Default Visitor visa delay

My Chilean partner submitted a visitors visa application (not a NZeTA) on 18/11/2019, application received 19/11/2019. It is now very close to the given time frame they said of 22 days. It is also very close to the holiday closing time. What would be the best thing to do once the time frame is up? We have his flight booked for march, but i still have to move from my country to go there so need to quit my job and tidy up lose ends.
I have also read that sometimes they won't email you when it's approved and you should log into realme to see the status.

Did your partner want to stay longer than the time allowed under the NZeTA?

In terms of what to do - probably just hold tight until you get an answer. Everyone's application is unique and the time frames are just a guideline. If his flight isn't until March you've still got some time.

Yes he plans on staying longer that the 3 months he is allowed on the NZeTA.
I called the call centre today and was able to get through to them with no waiting time but unable to access any information as he hasn't signed a declaration for me to speak on his behalf. He will do this tomorrow.
    Thank you for your reply

Did you apply for a general visitor's visa or a partnership visitor's visa? When you say the 22 days did you get it from this page - https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...sa-application ? There is no defined amount of time each application will take because each one is different.

If the purpose of the visitor visa is to allow time to build up evidence of your relationship - have you read this - https://www.immigration.govt.nz/docu...lationship.pdf

Just a normal visitors visa. I am not a resident of NZ. We plan on travelling for a bit and possibly apply for a partner visa if we settle. I am Australian so I am able to work.

Update : he called immigration. They said it has been passed on to a CO. It's has now been 6 weeks for a visitors visa! The call centre person said there was nothing he can do apart from lodge a complaint, which he did online. He received an automated response saying that if he has had no reply in 2 months, to lodge another online complaint...

Update: immigration contacted him stating we need proof of our relationship even though it's a visitors/tourist visa he is applying for. They also want either my citizenship for Chile (but I live in Oz) or his for aus (he lives in Chile) They want his payslips tax docs etc which he can't provide as Chile doesn't have the best system. It seems like we're applying for a partner visa but we're not.
We're not married and have not lived together, what's the best way to state our genuine relationship?

    @Sheridanlee

Please refer to this as to why you're being asked for that information: https://www.immigration.govt.nz/docu...lationship.pdf

Even as with countries without the best system, record still exist and you still have to provide them otherwise they will decide on the information you have provided them.

Here's the partnership information on the INZ website: https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...ly/partnership

Thank you for your reply. You see, I am not a resident of NZ, and we are going for travel.
Anyway, we will try our best

I used to live in Chile and I know that their systems aren't the best - but there is often a way to get the information needed. You will need to check but I think that it needs to be in English too.

I'm guessing that they are treating it as a partnership visa on the basis that he has mentioned he wants to travel with you and there is the potential for you to work/stay permanently on your Australian passport.
