    Default Power and internet connections

    Hi all,
I would like to shift to Hamilton (Hillcrest area) soon in a rental house. Currently, I am living in a studio apartment in Auckland, the rent includes power and internet. So this will be my first experience for renting a house and applying for power and internet connections. Please let me know the provider which gives the most economical rate/package for internet and electricity. Further, how long is the whole process of getting the connections.
    Thanks,

In terms of internet - it will depend on what type of connection you want and what is available in your area. I'd look at some of the main providers comparing the different options available and figure out what one will best meet your needs.

For power you can look on https://www.powerswitch.org.nz/ which allow you to compare electricity companies. I'm not sure if a similar website exists for internet companies but you can sometimes get them as a package.

Try https://www.fastconnect.co.nz/. Not sure if they cover Hamilton but you can try.

You can find this information on the companies' websites.

Internet speed will depend on if your house has copper, wireless or fibre. If ultra fast fibre have built to your house and it's installed go with that and you can get up to gigabit speeds. If they are outside your home see if your landlord will sign off on having it installed, it's likely to be free and worth the upgrade. National broadband map will tell you what you can get at your new house from all providers then a site like broadband compare will let you compare plans and usually offer a few months for free
