Default Withdraw current dependent visitor visa application and lodge new one as the main Applicant

    Hi everyone.

I'm seeking your opinion on how to withdraw the dependent visitor visa and re-apply a new one as the main applicant

My parents arrived in NZ last year on 3 months single visitor visa which expire the end of Feb 2020

We have already applied for another visitor visa so they can stay here for another 6 months. My dad is the main applicant and my mom is the dependent

X-ray examinations were required. My dad X-ray showed some shadows on his lung and he needs to do more tests with the chest specialist to confirm TB not present which could take 6-8 weeks. He was ill due to pneumonia back to 1988. My mom X-ray is normal nothing concern.

What I'm thinking is to have my mom to lodge a new Visitor Visa on her own as if it were in the worst case scenario their joint current application got declined as my dad is not ASH; my mom still can stay here on her own for few more months.

Do you think it's reasonable approach? We are going to write back to the Case Officer to ask for more time as TB test will take 6-8 weeks.

    Many thanks

I've no idea what INZ's attitude would be on this, or whether it would even be allowed.

My mom is not really the dependent on my dad. They just applied together on one application

I definitely can't tell you what you should or shouldn't do, but I can point you to A4.5 in the operational manual, which provides an overview of health instructions that INZ will follow. The acceptable standard of health for temporary class visa applications is outlined at A4.15 (referenced from A4.5).

In your place, I would ask the CO, but I have no idea if there is any possibility of extending the processing time for extending the visa past its expiry, in these circumstances. The CO may not be able to help, though.

Thank you very much for your support.

If the CO does not allow the extension, my father will go back home and do the test over there.

But my mother who X-ray came out fine; she is the secondary applicant. Can she start new visitor Visa as she wanting to stay here for few more months. Both my parents are genuine visitor. They had been here before in 2016; and left before their visa expired

Again, I would ask the CO that, or the INZ call centre.
