Default Visitor Visa - Proof of sufficient Funds

    Hi,

Do the funds need to be in Applicant's own bank account?? Can we show funds in applicant's spouse's account??

My sister in law is applying for visit visa but she is financially dependent on her husband. is it ok if she attaches bank statement of her husband with the visit visa application (as proof of sufficient funds)?? If yes, will she also need some additional documents like undertaking from her husband??

    Regards,

She will need to prove that she has access to those funds at any time. Perhaps a marriage certificate and explanation letter to show and describe the link?

Yes, an explanation letter from the husband will be helpful. As will a marriage cert as it will establish the legal relationship between the bank account holder and the visa applicant. The key terms to pay attention to in instructions are: "funds that will be genuinely available to the applicant for the duration of their visa to New Zealand" and "funds in an account the applicant will have access to in New Zealand". Think of evidence to prove those points.
