    Default About wage subsidy....

I notice my current boss leave job on 31 Mar 2020.
He will apply wage subsidy for me and paid to only 31 Mar 2020. I apply new work visa n still struck in INZ system so I still hv visa with current boss. I work for them nearly 5yrs. My question is they can apply for me to get wage subsidy cover 1 month while NZ lockdown? Because I still hv to continue pay rent and food cost all month. I didn't expect NZ will lockdown before. Who should I contact ?

All this is very new to everybody, and the government have been making up rules in haste as they went along, so I doubt if anyone here has experience yet to share. I suggest that you should contact the NZ Citizens' Advice Bureau. They will have contacts to check details, and they will talk to you for free about your situation. https://www.cab.org.nz/

Crossing fingers for you! There is no way to reach WINZ atm. Waiting time is 118 minutes now and the call just gets disconnected. Hang in there.

I have applied for the Wage Subsidy for 2 different business's with multiple employees, so have done a lot of research, but I am certainly not a specialist in this field. One condition is that to get the Wage Subsidy the employee must be employed by the business receiving it on your behalf, for the subsidy's intended duration- 12 weeks. So from my understanding if your employer has terminated your employment as of 31st March, he is not able to apply for the Wage subsidy as you will not be employed for the 12 week period. If he kept you on for the 12 weeks then he can pay you your contractual wage using the wage subsidy money. This seems to be what the scheme is intended to be for.
