Question redundancy work visa - start side business

I have a 5 year essential skills work visa, but just heard that my company has made me redundant (work in marketing) - they are giving me the wage subsidy as a 3 month notice, so I will have some time to apply for jobs and hopefully find something new before the 3 month period ends.

Currently they aren't a lot of jobs out there, but there might be companies that can use my skills for a few hours or few days. Can I somehow offer my services as a sole trader?

    Hope someone has the answer.

An Essential Skills work visa doesn't allow self-employment, unfortunately. Being self-employed on an Essential Skills work visa would be a breach of your visa conditions and could have serious consequences for you down the track.
