Question Changing work visa type--should i let employer know?

    Hi all,

There were a series of layoffs in my company last month due to COVID so applied for a partnership work visa to save myself from deportation. Im an ESV holder til august 2021, and I luckily didnt get laid off (for now)

but my partnership visa got approved today, should i let my employer know?

    thanks!

I personally think honesty is always the best policy when dealing with your employer. And since your employer has obligations under the Immigration Act to only employ people who have the legal right to work in NZ, the type of visa you are on is pertinent to this obligation, so it's only fair to let them know that your visa type has changed - even if it doesn't make any difference in whether they can employ you or not, it's a courteous thing to let them know anyway.
