WTR Question

Hello everyone
I am asking this question on behalf of my friend.
He is currently holding LTSSL work to residence work visa and will be able to apply for work to residence residence visa in Feb 2021, looking at the processing times these days for WTR visas these days, he is bit confused that should he apply for residence visa under SMC category or shall he wait until next year for WTR(his profession requires NZ registration in Electrical)

Without knowing full details of your friend's circumstances, my gut-feel is to advise him to wait until next year and lodge RFW - if he has registration to do his job and he needs that rego to do his job in NZ, he should (in theory) be prioritised for allocation.
