Default Medical assesment process - Residency from WTR visa application

    Hi,

Just need some clarity in regards to the process when it comes to medical referrals due to B Grading.

We got asked to submit a specialist report which was submitted in February.

When does the panel doctors actually look at these reports? Once its been submitted or only when a Case officer is assigned.

    Appreciate any feedback

Panel doctors only do the initial medical examination. If some result is flagged as outside the norms, or there is some medical condition present, the medical is referred to the Medical Assessors, whose job is to understand the applicant's state of health, and pronounce on whether they might need treatment and/or medication which would cost the NZ Health Service too much. The Medical Assessors can ask for reports from the person's own doctor or a specialist, or for more tests to be done, and can ask further questions until they have a thorough understanding. They are independent of the COs, though they send messages of their requirements via INZ. When they have come to a conclusion, this will be added to the applicant's file.

I expect that the MAs' work will have been interrupted by office closures during the pandemic regulations. In that case, whenever their office reopened, things would have got moving again. However, 'your' MA may have done the necessary before the lockdown - if so, the conclusion will already be in your case notes, ready for when it is next worked on by INZ.
