Thank you Msum for creating a seperate thread. I am in the same situation but my husband works in the critical health work category and he has his occupational registration and works for govt organisation. We tried applying for border exemption for our son’s but got declined And got reply email saying unsuccessful and he doesn’t have a critical reason to travel to NZ.

My daughter's resident visa was also on hold because she is offshore. My IO replied to me that my daughter's visa is currently approved but issuance of visa has no possible timeframe. Is this means that they will automatically issue the visa once the border will be open. Will they required us again to send documents of financial dependency of my dependent? Will they required her passport to be sent in Hamilton NZ office or the country where she is living now?

    Thanks

The only part of your question that can be answered is around where passports are to be sent. Generally, one would send it to the closest Visa Application Centre, so if there's one in the country where she is living now, that's where she'd send it. Of course, this assumes that the offshore VACs have reopened by then.

The rest of your question can't be answered -- no-one knows, and I suspect that includes INZ themselves.

I don't think any documents will need to be sent again as application is approved and only with support people now. No more work from CO or second person now. The moment they open up borders and the gov announces some relaxations they will simply email the evisas they have piled up. There should be no questions asked as they are already approved *hopefully*
If any of you come across any news of such a thing please share on this thread.

Just a further note about this:

If a visa is granted outside New Zealand, one of the things that it indicates is that, at the time the visa is granted, there is no reason to believe that the holder will be refused entry permission if the holder’s travel is consistent with the conditions of the visa relating to travel (Section 43(1) of the Immigration Act 2009). Consequently, if there is any reason to believe that the holder will be refused entry permission, a visa cannot legally be issued. As INZ is now automatically refusing entry permission except to people to whom the border closure cannot be legally applied (New Zealand citizens, and people described in Section 108(1), 108(2) or 108(3) of the Immigration Act 2009) or where a border closure exception applies and has been granted, INZ therefore cannot legally grant the visas in question.

    hi Kel,

yes, you are right, iNZ is not allowed to grant those offshore people the first RV as its against the law.

But they could issue PRV to people who now stuck overseas but eligible for the Permanent residence, its not against the law.

sadly, offshore PRV apps also on hold , not fair at all.

    Am I right ?

I would query the decision to defer the decision to grant offshore partners and children their Resident visas and allow them to travel to NZ - I just had a Resident visa approved for a client this week and the offshore wife and child were also granted their Resident visas with an accompanying email to confirm that the family qualify to travel to NZ without seeking approval first as they hold visas based on their relationship with a NZ Resident (the principal applicant of the SMC application who was approved).

Either the advice given to my client is wrong (hmmmm) or INZ aren't being consistent with their approach (wouldn't be surprised).

I emailed Nathanael and followed up with INZ on phone and then Elton Fraser (Immigration Manager) replied to me that from 17th July they have been granted power to issue residence visas for secondary offshore applicants where their passports have already been scanned. She assured me that as soon as VAC open worldwide then my family can get passport scanned and they will be issued residence immediately.

The client you are talking about, did they(secondary applicants) already have their passports scanned in past ? I am totally clueless how to go about this VAC closure as it can be many months for them to reopen.

Hi msum, I got excited with your post. My IO requested my daughter's passport to be scan and since I had her passport with me here in New Zealand, I sent it yesterday in NADO in Auckland. My IO emailed me that once it will be return back I email her immediately. Does it mean that my daughter's residency visa will be issued after that?
