He got fired actually.
Not merely "resigned", but dismissed by the Prime Minister herself over inappropriate conduct (he did a Bill Clinton, basically!).
I wouldn't expect any immediate changes with INZ though. The new Minister of Immigration (Kris Faafoi) will likely simply have a "caretaker" role, given that Parliament and Cabinet dissolves imminently with the national election only 2 months away. I'm therefore expecting that INZ will continue to kick the can down the road until the next Government is formed.
(JandM, can you split this out into its own thread? May be worthy of discussion on its own...)
He has been sacked by Jacinda.
He did not resign. to reap what you sow.

Kris is labor MP.
Im pretty sure Kris Faafoi isnt running for the next election. He must be just there to fill the gap for few months.
Too busy having an affair rather than sorting out the huge back-log and mess at INZ
You couldn't even make this up
In addition to being Immigration Minister, ILG was also Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety. He had an affair with somebody in the workplace. His sacking had nothing to do with immigration, and everything to do with being a hypocrite. His behaviour was wholly inappropriate for someone who held that portfolio.
