To be honest I highly doubt it. The paper-based applications she is referring to are probably just temporary work visas etc, not the complex SMC applications.
Unless I read confirmation from INZ on the processing of SMC applications during lockdown, I would believe so.
I believe EGoodhue has said in the past that no paper-based applications are allowed to leave the INZ offices, too much sensitive information at risk. Online applications however, might be ok for them to work on from outside their offices.
Unless they have dramatically changed their document security policies in recent years, no SMC applications will be allowed to leave the office.
I was just thinking what if I tell immigration that they could bring all my docs at home and tell them I don't care about any confidentiality issues as I have nothing to hide as long as they process my application.
I wonder what the team of SMC case officers was up to during the lockdown.
I got this response from INZ today:
Our staff will continue to work on applications from home, subject to limitations of working remotely without access to physical files.
So means now SMC
