Default Applying student visa for a child when parent is in SMC Job search visa

    Hi
I applied for SMC resident visa and got a job search visa under SMC for one year. Now I'm in NZ and doing a job. But still searching for a skilled job. So, I didn't get resident visa yet.

I'm a single parent. My child is 11 years old and I want to bring my child to NZ.
Can I apply student visa for child while I'm in this smc job search visa category?
Or what is the way I can bring my child here.?

    Thanks

A dependent child of someone granted a Work Visa under Skilled Migrant Category Job Search instructions can not be granted a Student Visa (U8.20(a)(v)).

Your only option is to meet all outstanding criteria to be granted a Resident Visa under Skilled Migrant Category instructions. If your dependent child was included in your application, they will be granted a Resident Visa at the same time, and may travel to and study in New Zealand.
