    Default PR Transfer question

Hello, I'm sure this has been answered before, but I couldn't find the answer via a search.

I have permanent residency. Old passport was due to expire April 22. Renewed my passport, but took longer than excepted (their processing times suddenly increased). I've received the new passport now, and will be sending off my eVisa transfer docs tomorrow via post.

Is there an issue if my old passport expires before the transfer is completed or even lodged? I'm assuming not and that this would only be an issue if I was intending to travel, but I want to be sure. Hoping someone else has dealt with this before or recently.

    Thanks!

Your residence is recorded in the INZ computer, and it relates to YOU, not to your passport. So your passport having expired doesn't affect the validity of your status as a resident.
