Default What can I do if: I hold permanent contract but my open work visa will expire soon?

    Hi guys,
I hold an open work visa and will expire soon. Now I have a permanent contract.
What can I do if my employer will not support my work visa after my open work visa expires? Should I need to find a new job as soon as possible?
    Cheers,
    Lili

If you are unable to meet any category for an open work visa (e.g. partnership, post-study), and your employer will not support an application for you to obtain an employment-based work visa (e.g. the new Accredited Employer Work Visa that will be introduced in November), you have two options:

    1. Find a new employer that will support an application for an employment-based work visa; or
    2. Leave New Zealand before your current visa expires.
