Quick, everyone! follow my lead, buckle up & send those scathing e-mails

kidding aside, I just thought you'd like to like to know a case officer e-mailed me this morning to reconfirm my details, cos I had a name change recently

Please be patient guys. It'll happen soon, they seem to be speeding things up

    Received PR - March 2017
    Applied - Nov 2021
    Approved: May 2022

That's good progress! But just want to clarify, did you get a confirm details email or approval of citizenship email? Thanks

No prior email about allocation of CO before approval mail. Just got the approval mail saying "Kia Ora Old name", seeing as my application is under my old name

But I'd lodged an application for realme verification under my new name recently. May be they tracked that or found my recently issued name change certificate.
So CO has sent a separate mail later saying "Kia Ora Old name", asking me to reconfirm the name, details. So I'm hoping they don't revoke the approval seeing my new name

BTW my friend got his one approved in 4.5 months

Congrats to you and your friend
    You friend is incredibly lucky!
Can I ask if your original documents are all in English (birth cert etc)? And your friend's?

Mine are not so I'm trying to see if that's what makes the distinction between promptly processed applications and the ones that have to wait long in the queue.

Thanks ht8990 Yeah i know the feeling. I have OCD and that didn't help. It's another reason why I went nuts on that faulty tool online and complained to them.
But clearly they're powering through ( I mean some COs are )
Yes our docs are in English. No translation of any docs needed for either of us.

Anyway good luck mate. Hope you get yours soon

Some people simply have more complex applications than others owing to their individual circumstances. It really comes down to that, at the end of the day.

It's plausible that having to submit translated documents could result in a longer processing time: depending on who did the translation, checks to ascertain that the translation is genuine may be required. The Department of Internal Affairs are more likely to readily accept a translation done through their own translation service than one done through some random private business, for example.

Just thought you'd like to know

    https://fyi.org.nz/request/19035/res...ponse.pdf.html

    says

    > As of 2 April 2022, please advise the submission date of the oldest applications now being
    assessed.

In response to your request I can provide you with the following information. The oldest date of
an application being assessed as of 2 April 2022 is the 4 April 2021.

thanks mate. I just had to send multiple follow up mails to get them to see why the tool said I'm ineligible, so good luck with that
