The representative could not answer if and how anyone else got the citizenship approved and stressed its going according to queue.

    So confusing.
Ugh! So despite substantial anecdotal evidence to the contrary, they are staunchly clinging to the claim that they are not choosing the applications out of order.

Quite frustrating, when we see otherwise. Maybe there is some "queue within the queue" of which we are unaware.

Back to just waiting and hoping...

I emailed DIA on the 11th of May and got a response on the 18th of May. Not a bad wait time in my eyes.

Thanks for this. Yes I would expect one week wait time is normal at this rate. Cheers

Either there is some form of prioritization going on, or the handling is something like this:

    1) Automated check > pass (unlikely though because then people applying today could be approved today)
    2) Automated check > pass > manual check
    3) Automated check > minor issue > shorter queue > manual handling
    4) Automated check > major issue > longer queue > manual handling

Can I apply for citizenship while being overseas? Or must I be in NZ?

I'll travel overseas for 2 months. I'm not qualified when I travel but will be after one month (while overseas).

As long as presence requirements are met, you need not necessarily be in the country to apply for citizenship online. One can even apply from Mars via their dia.services.govt.nz site
    good luck

Thanks Azure. Much appreciated. I thought I had to be in the country.
