    Default NZ Passport identity referee

How diligent is DIA about calling identity referee check?
Can any NZ passport holders confirm, what your experience has been with DIA about passport identity referee
If I'm the most unlikeable ogre in town with no friends but NOT a criminal, I can't get a passport?

I saw in an old FB post that they only do spot check randomly

Seeing as my country doesn't allow dual citizenship, My friends are all on PR, work visa. So, that puts me in a tough spot to have to ask my landlord, boss, because i should have known my referee for a year. I've not known my other kiwi friends for a year. Rest of my kiwi friends don't have a passport FML

I've given my boss' contact. He's agreed to be my referee. I'm hoping they don't call

I don't think anyone outside of the Department of Internal Affairs can give you a definite answer on this one, sorry.

    Though...

... any objections if I ask JandM to change your username to "Shrek"?

Oh, Kelerei, Shrek is entirely loveable - like you, I'm sure, Azure.

In my case they rang the referee and ask how did the referee know me, when, etc.

My understanding is if you have a verified realme you do not have to provide a reference if applying online.

You still need a identify referee even with a verified realme.

Sorry, you are completely right. I was thinking of citizenship application.

I was a referee recently and they sent me an email and asked me to respond to it which asked what was the name of the person in the photo, how I knew them and my passport details.

Before that I have never been asked to provide further details.

I had similar experience a month ago. Been referee a few time but his is the first time they contacted me via email asking for the same details.

I just applied for my NZ passport over the weekend, using my verified RealMe account. I was all ready with my referee information, and was never asked for it.
