Question Getting new passport overseas while waiting for PR

Hi everyone, I'll be eligible to apply for the PR at some stage soon, here's what I'm going to do by then in the order:

    1. Submitting the application for PR.
    2. Applying for extend my current Resident visa
    3. Going back to my country
    4. Renewing my passport in my country

Now I have a few questions to make sure it's a possible plan:
    1. Can I transfer the extended Resident visa while I'm overseas?
    2. Can I update my new passport info to INZ for processing my PR application, or I'll have to submit a new application?
    3. Do they process the PR application while the applicant is outside NZ?
    4. Is there any other concerns I need to pay attention to?

    Thanks in advance!

The "fees, decision times and where to apply" interactive tool will provide you with your answer.

In my experience, this will be possible provided that your application is still in progress. Once a decision has been made, this will no longer be possible for reasons that I would hope are obvious.

The relevant immigration instructions (RV2) contain no restriction on where the applicant is physically present as of the time of application/decision.

This question can only be legally answered by a Licensed Immigration Adviser.
