Default Renewing Passport and Travelling overseas without transfer of Visa to new passport

    Hi Seniors,

I am on PR Visa. I am renewing my passport and need to travel overseas. I will get my new passport before my overseas travel but I will not have enough time to transfer my PR visa to new passport.

Visa transfer to new passport is taking 4 to 6 weeks time as per INZ website.

Can I apply for visa transfer to new passport and then travel overseas with my application of visa transfer still under process?? Or is there a requirement that you cant travel overseas until you have your visa transferred to new passport??

I will appreciate quick response from seniors.

    Regards,

You will need your PR visa in your new passport in order to re-enter NZ. As long as you have a valid passport, you can travel out of NZ, and elsewhere in the world, without the NZ visa, but you will need it in order to come home.

Have you looked into getting an eVisa? https://www.immigration.govt.nz/abou...-online/evisas I believe they can be issued more quickly. Also, you can receive the eVisa email to print out, wherever you are in the world.

To add to the above: if you request to transfer an eVisa, you can submit certified copies of both old and new passports, and there is no processing fee (whereas original documents and a processing fee are required if requesting a visa label).

Hi, Could you please confirm when you received your new e-visa from immigration(and when did you send the documents)? I'm on the same situation.
    Thanks !
