Fortunately the physiotherapist taught my husband to do some correct back exercise. My husband thought he should bend forward for back exercise, like yoga child pose. However, the physiotherapist said it would make it worst and told my husband to do backward exercise, like yoga camel pose. Somehow that exercise cured his sciatica!
Regarding getting referral, it is a hit and miss. A while ago, I had hand injury. Saw a physiotherapist like 10 times, not getting better and he didn't refer me to see a specialist. Anyway, since the injury is under ACC, I decided to see a hand therapist. The hand therapist immediately referred me to get an ultrasound scan right away. After the scan confirmed that there was a tear in the tendon, the hand therapist referred me to see a hand surgeon. From the start of injury and wasting time seeing the physiotherapist, ended up taking 6 months to see a hand surgeon! Anyway, it was Covid time, perhaps the wait time was longer! Hence be prepared to wait for specialist consultation!
sciatica MOSTLY PROPAGATE TO FOOT which I dont have. I dont think so but thanks anyway. My case if burn between shoulder blades. morning it is hard to bend forward. cannot sit long. Yes I understood even swimming which is good for everyone might be bad for someone else!
In order to get insurance payment a doctor referral is a must for me. directly going to physio does not pay for me. any doctor just should give me referral to any specialist. I should go and ask i am tired. I hope again if someone has experience share
