    Default Doctor referral

    Hello

I need to have a doctor referral to chiropractor or physiotherapist. However since my pain is moderate or lower moderate doctor did not give referral. I need referral for insurance case. Does anybody know how can I justify doctor to give a referral to me? I am in wellington and even hardly find gp in clinic. So, any idea?

I'm having a little trouble understanding your explanation. You say you "need referral for insurance case." Is this for private health insurance or ACC? If you have private insurance, just tell the doctor you are going private and don't need to meet the requirement for referral within the public system. Be sure to mention that you have private insurance. If you mean you need the referral to get it covered by ACC, you are probably out of luck.

Gush! Someone answered! Thank you. No it is Allianze insurance AU/NZ. Private. I dont know why that old doctor did not refer me to specialist. I asked the insurance they mentioned physio chiropractor and et. are specialists doctor refer is needed. Any way to see doctor itself I will pay 115 dollars but insurance turns it back generally.
So, this is not such un-comئon that i ask any doctor to refer me to specialist even if he thinks it is not required in NZ?
Do you have any idea I have a middle back pain and it is annoying. What should I say to doctor since really GP cannot do anything for me? In NZ if I want to show my MRI which kind of doctor should I see?! In case I want gp to refer me to MRI shall I also ask or insist on it? I really need to full check this

Back pain can be sciatica, better check with physiotherapist. Anyway, back pain can be hard to diagnose. When my husband had sciatica, the physiotherapist referred him to have a scan to make sure there was nothing pinching the nerve. At the end, the scan didn't find anything. Fortunately the physiotherapist taught my husband to do some correct back exercise. My husband thought he should bend forward for back exercise, like yoga child pose. However, the physiotherapist said it would make it worst and told my husband to do backward exercise, like yoga camel pose. Somehow that exercise cured his sciatica!

Regarding getting referral, it is a hit and miss. A while ago, I had hand injury. Saw a physiotherapist like 10 times, not getting better and he didn't refer me to see a specialist. Anyway, since the injury is under ACC, I decided to see a hand therapist. The hand therapist immediately referred me to get an ultrasound scan right away. After the scan confirmed that there was a tear in the tendon, the hand therapist referred me to see a hand surgeon. From the start of injury and wasting time seeing the physiotherapist, ended up taking 6 months to see a hand surgeon! Anyway, it was Covid time, perhaps the wait time was longer! Hence be prepared to wait for specialist consultation!

sciatica MOSTLY PROPAGATE TO FOOT which I dont have. I dont think so but thanks anyway. My case if burn between shoulder blades. morning it is hard to bend forward. cannot sit long. Yes I understood even swimming which is good for everyone might be bad for someone else!

In order to get insurance payment a doctor referral is a must for me. directly going to physio does not pay for me. any doctor just should give me referral to any specialist. I should go and ask i am tired. I hope again if someone has experience share
