Hi everyone
We applied for a Partnership residence visa in August 2022.
My partner has been in NZ on a Partnership VISITOR visa since August 2021 (24 month visa). this is expiring soon. we thought she will get her residency by now, since at the time it said visas are processed within 12 months...
We contacted the case officer to inquire about how long it will take to get the residency and we were told that we will need to apply for another temporary visa in the meantime as they are doing "third party checks"
I replied to the CO about whether it would make a difference if I apply for a visitor visa or a work visa (both partner based) and case officer said I can apply for either, its more important to apply for a visa in the interim to be issued an interim visa but to apply for work visa IF my partner intends to work - they do not intend on working)
My question is, does it make sense to apply for another partnership visitor visa while currently in NZ (we want to avoid the high cost of the work visa if we can).
Can anyone please share their experience/opinions? Would they consider the visitor visa application "bona fide" if we explain that the reason we are applying for another visitor visa while my partner waits for the resident visa?
I hope that makes sense
Thank you
