Default Question regarding Partnership Work Visa to Partnership Resident visa

    Hi,

If my partner is on a Partnership Work Visa that has a 1 year duration, but wants to apply for the Partner of a New Zealand Resident visa, what happens in this scenario:

She is working full time using her Partnership Work Visa, this has an expiration date of let's say 8-9 months. If she applies for a Resident Visa which currently has a 12 month processing time... what happens if her Partnership Work Visa is approaching the deadline but she is still waiting for the resident work visa?

Does Immigration NZ extend the partnership work visa? allowing her to continue working while she waits for resident visa results.

    or

Does she go on an interim visa and has to resign from her job?

    thanks

    https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-.../visa/interim-
If you’ve applied for a resident visa, and you think your visa may expire before we make a decision about your residence application, you should apply for a temporary visa too. That way you’ll be eligible for an interim visa if you need one.
If it turns out to be necessary for INZ to issue an interim visa, if she had by then applied for the SAME KIND of work visa (you haven't specified what she is currently on), the interim visa would allow her to go on working. This all depends on what visa she has had before, and what she has applied for now.
See here to check the different scenarios. https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...ditions/slider

She will be on Partner of a New Zealander Work Visa, and then applying for a Partner of a New Zealander Resident Visa. We would have been living together for 12+ months when applying. I assume her interim visa will come with the same conditions as her visa? aka her interim visa will allow her to continue working, so she doesn't have to resign is what I'm reading?

    thanks

It looks as though that would be correct, yes, according to that INZ page.
