What will be the citizenship status of a baby born to Kiwi Parents who are living in Australia on a Special Category Visa??

Will the baby get Australian citizenship by birth? and NZ citizenship by descent?

The child will be a New Zealand citizen by descent if, and only if, either of the parents is a New Zealand citizen otherwise than by descent; refer to Section 7 of the Citizenship Act. If either parent is a New Zealand citizen by descent and neither parent is a New Zealand citizen otherwise than by descent, the child will only be a New Zealand citizen if the child has no other avenue available for citizenship and would otherwise be stateless.

The matter of the child's Australian status is off-topic for this forum.
