There's an age-related cut-off that may affect you here. If the applicant is aged 0-13, only the entitlement to reside, intention to reside and the presence requirements must be met. As soon as the applicant turns 14, all of the other standard grant requirements (character, responsibilities and privileges, and English language) must be met as well. It is the age at the time of approval that matters, not the age at the time of submission. This means that, given your child's age and the current processing times, it is possible that your child may turn 14 during the processing of their application and may therefore need to meet additional requirements prior to approval.
The presence requirement is a possible exception: for any applicant under 16, it will be considered met if one of the parents is, or is about to become, a New Zealand citizen. This means that, if the child does not meet the presence requirement in their own right and neither parent is a New Zealand citizen, a decision will be deferred until the parent's own application is approved.

It should be fine if you use a parent's account. If I remember correctly, the online form asks you if you are submitting your own application or that of a spouse/dependent (because group applications exist).
