Hong Kong Police Certificate
Can anyone who lived in HK for more than 5 years share how they obtained the HK police certificate? We left HK a while ago and currently live in Canada but want to migrate to NZ. HK police states they only issue the certificate if requested by NZ visa officer. Also they only send the police certificate to NZ immigration directly.
We are currently applying for jobs at AEWV accredited employers. When we get a job offer and apply for the AEWV visa we need to upload the police certificates but we can't get the HK one unless a personal request is made by NZ immigration. We feel stuck. We have an old HK police certificate that we used to immigrate into Canada.
Anyone who has gone through that?
Thanks

Info from INZ website - https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-...e-certificates
“If you are outside New Zealand, send all requests for a letter of authority to: HKPC@mbie.govt.nz
You must provide the following information in your email request:
full name
date of birth
Hong Kong ID number
current residential region if not Hong Kong
the type of visa you are applying for.”
Personally, I have gone through the process and it is pretty straightforward except for the longer processing time - It takes about 2 months total to get the certificate issued. So you will probably want to get it done early.
Once you get the a letter from INZ, you will also need various forms (fingerprints, personal information and application form from HK police that can be found here - https://www.police.gov.hk/ppp_en/11_..._overseas.html)
Depending on where you get your fingerprints done in Canada you might require a proof of authorisation (in NZ a commercial agency does the fingerprinting and a letter of authorisation by the local police will be provided)
Then you send all this documents to HK with payment in the form of a cheque. If you donÂ’t have one then you can send to family or friends who can submit it on your behalf and pay for it upon submission. Once the documents are received and processed (usually up to 4 weeks), HK police will sent it directly to INZ.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
