    Default Tauranga accommodation?

    Hi Everyone,
Can anybody recommend a nice hotel in Tauranga? I will be there for a few days in May. A sea view would be nice! Also, I'll be looking for jobs and such so a room with a desk and internet connection would be nice.

    Thanks!
    John

    Hi John,

This is one that we have stayed in $150pn for four of us. Some of the rooms are older but still comfortable, clean with a very nice view. Within walking distance to Restaurants/shops.
Also if you try "wotif" site (see link) they can have cheaper rates.

    thanks annaerb,
I checked that hotel and it looked very nice but they only had one room left @$195! Too much for just me!

I think I am going to pick the Best Western Summit Motor Lodge. Has nice suites, $110, harbour view, close to stuff, etc. Hopefully I can find it coming from Gisborne (another scary american driver on NZ roads, hehe).

    Hi John.

Have a look on here, gives an alternative to a hotel.....don't know about the internet connection though.

    Enjoy your trip.

We drove from Gisborne to Tauranga and it's a really Nice drive. Are you going through the Gorge Rd or going back along the Cape Rd?

Julie - thanks for the link, some of those looked really cool. Too bad I had just reserved a room already.

annaerb - I'm going to drive the gorge road from Gisborne, is that the route you went? Is it scary? haha....I just want to allow plenty of time to go from gisborne to tauranga (and again, american driver......)

Everything is now booked - hotels/rental cars/flights, borrowed the laptop from my sis, hopefully can post and email during the two weeks in NZ hunting for jobs and places to possibly live, I'm geeked and ready for the adventure! arrive auckland 1 May @ 5am, yuk, but hopping a plane to Nelson a few hours after that. This is my trip to decide if I want to move to NZ, and if I can.....

We went right around the East Cape then back through the Gorge Road. I wouldn't say it was scary maybe a bit boring and thought when was it going to end. The drive is about 3hrs or so just take your time and enjoy it.

Tauranga is a nice place lots of nice restaurtants to choose from. Go over to Mount Maunganui for a drive it's about a 5 min from Tauranga. It is also a very nice place.

Good luck with your Trip the weather is certainly still great at the moment and don't forget to take photo's of each place you go too.
