    Question Beloved digital radio

I was given a lovely Pure digital radio for Christmas last year and was wondering if it would work in NZ? Any ideas???

ETA: I have, of course, lost the instruction manual

The answer at the moment is NO! Testing of DAB is not scheduled until September this year, and only in the Auckland area. There is still no indication of frequency bands or any other details, so up to now, our digi radios are pretty useless They don't envisage any rollout of transmitters until 2007 at the earliest.

I will take it anyway just in case ... until then Planet Rock is constantly on the dial

    Press Release
DAB Digital Radio Trials Launch in New Zealand
Trials of DAB Digital Radio are set to begin in New Zealand in
    September 2006.
Auckland, 20th April 2006 - New Zealand joins an ever-growing list of countries
to adopt DAB as the new way of broadcasting in the digital age.
The 12-month trial, driven by BCL (Broadcast Communications Ltd), New Zealand’s
leading broadcast network provider, will cover a large part of the Auckland area.
The trial launches in September and during the trial, BCL will work closely with New
Zealand’s regulatory body to develop a spectrum plan, a scheme for incentivising
broadcasters and a policy for roll out of both commercial and public broadcasting
    services.
The WorldDAB Forum, an international non-governmental organisation whose role
is to promote the awareness, adoption and implementation of DAB worldwide, will
support BCL by allowing it to benefit from other countries’ successful regulatory
    systems for DAB.
Public broadcaster Radio New Zealand, and commercial broadcasters RadioWorks
and Local Media Group, have agreed to take part in the trial. Manufacturers will also
support the trial by providing DAB products to be placed with consumers and
industry figures during the trial. Already on board are receiver manufacturers
such as Sony, Morphy Richards, PURE Digital, Intempo Digital, Telechips and
I-Tech, as well as network infrastructure vendors Radioscape and transmission
equipment supplier Telequipment Pacific, who are providing Harris DAB
    transmission equipment.
Commercial services are expected to launch in New Zealand within 18 to 24 months
    of the trial start date.

Notes to Editors: DAB has become an internationally adopted standard that can be seen and heard
in nearly 40 countries from Canada to Australia, across Europe and the Far East. Countries including
India, China and South Africa, are testing DAB and developing consumer trials. More than 500 million
people worldwide are within range of a DAB transmitter, and there are nearly 1000 services on air.
Created from the onset to enable mobile reception with audio, video and multimedia capabilities, the
DAB standard has recently extended its lead into the world of mobile multimedia delivery through its
DMB and DAB-IP applications. DMB and DAB-IP are DAB’s Mobile TV solutions and share the same
core sta ndard, infrastructure and receiver technology as DAB. The first ever Mobile TV services launch
took place in Korea in December 2005 using DMB technology. Further DMB launches are expected in
    Europe and China throughout 2006.
    About The World DAB Forum
The World DAB Forum is an international, non-governmental organisation whose role is to promote
the awareness, adoption and implementation of DAB worldwide. Its members include public and
commercial broadcasters, receiver manufacturers and other companies and bodies committed to
