    Default IMPORT TAX

Timbo touched this subject in the old Forum - and I've found this

    http://www.customs.govt.nz/resources/fact+sheet+28.pdf

    FROM THIS LIST
    http://www.customs.govt.nz/library/f...ts/default.asp

its made me jump a little and take stock on the items we've said we are taking to NZ, more money coming out of our pockets me thinks...!

Hi, haven't had time to read through the link you have posted but if you have owned something for a year

    (or it looks like that)

then you shouldn't have to pay duty on anything you bring over as a migrant.

If you chose to bring over a load of flat packed, new in boxes and they are spotted then you would pay the duty on those things.

Hi Veronica. When you say as a migrant, I assume you mean that if you have PR or work permit.

Do you know what the score is on paying duty on housegoods etc. if for instance you are coming in with EOI agreed in principal but awaiting a decision on PR. sorry, clear as mud I know, but I have confidence in you to unmuddle my words.

I can't answer that at the moment but will phone our shipping agent later and try and find out for you.

It could be that the time it takes to sort it and send it and arrive will be shorter that the visa to be processed.
