    Talking Suet

    I think this question may have been asked before but.......


    Can you get suet over here, I live in Dunedin and have not been able to find any,


    I was hoping to make a Christmas Pud (a bit late I know)....


    Any assistance gratefully received

    here we go - from veronica on the "which food item do you miss most" thread

    some one on here mentioned not being able to get suet.

    I buy it in countdown of the shelf (not in the fridge part) and its called shreddo, quality shortening.

    It is packaged in a container that looks identical to margarine.

    Would imagine its in all the supermarkets and its just a case of knowing where to look.

    I was the person bemoaning a lack of suet -

    and I have to say Shreddo is not really what I was expecting.

    It isn't like the fatty type of suet you get from the butchers at all.

    I prefer to grate butter still.

    I have made mincemeat this year using a Nigella Lawson recipe that utilises grated apples for the moistness.

    (Better for the waistline too.)
