    Default Eco-friendly homes in NZ

Anybody with links to "eco-friendly" builders in NZ? Or has anybody built an eco-home?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I've looked into this too, there are a couple of architects who specialise in this one of whom is in wellington. If you do a search, (we use www.searchthingy.com, found it the best) under passive solar houses, straw bale or alternative houses you might get something of interest. If you find womething really good let me know about it. cheers Veronica

    Default A good site

Check out this site, it doesn't have prices, but they are energy efficient and lovely homes.

The following link is for a company specialising in straw bale houses. It is actually an advert to sell the concept as a business venture, but does give a bit of an insight.

    Default Warm Homes

Sorry but I only just came across your post.

If you have any questions or want any info, I would be happy to help. We now have over 160 home models on the web site, and ALL are Energy efficient (Warm in winter, cool in summer).

We can even do FlorStor, a system that heats a house all winter with no energy input or cost from you! What you end up with a warm healthy house, the savings in the long run are huge. And how can you put a price on health and happiness?

    Cheers

great links thanks! I particularly was interested in the rammed earth houses. On my last trip to NZ I visited friends who had built a house using this material. I had a really lovely feel to it and have been interested in this building material ever since.
