Rental Prices for Houses in NZ
House rents vary between New Zealand’s cities and towns. In general, North Island house rents are higher than South Island house rents, and Auckland lets are higher priced than lets in other cities.
Rental prices have been provided by the Tenancy Services Division of the New Zealand Government’s Ministry of Housing. Rental prices are shown separately below for two and three bedroomed houses for each area in clear, easy to view tables.
Three bedroomed houses are by far the most popular property type to be rented in New Zealand.
Figures from Trade Me Property for August 2020 showed that the average (median) rent for an Auckland townhouse was $670 per week and for an urban townhouse in the rest of New Zealand was $460 per week.
