Capital and Coast District Health Board
With around 3,500 staff, C&C DHB is a major employer in the Wellington region. C&C DHB operates two hospitals – Wellington and Kenepuru and as well as the Kapiti Health Centre at Paraparaumu. There are also a number of community bases.

Civil Aviation Authority of NZ
In New Zealand there are about 9000 pilots and 3350 aircraft. More than 4.5 million passengers travel on our main airlines’ domestic services and 2.69 million arrive on international air carriers each year. Their safety is overseen by the CAA. The CAA establishes civil aviation safety and security standards, and monitors adherence to those standards. The CAA carries out accident and incident investigations and collates this material to establish an industry-wide safety picture. This becomes the basis of safety initiatives ranging from education campaigns to increased monitoring and regulatory action. The CAA also provides search and rescue services throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific, and meets New Zealand’s obligations to the international civil aviation community.

Contact Energy Limited
We are the largest wholesaler and retailer of natural gas in the country and we generate about 30% of New Zealand’s electricity. Contact has ten power stations around the country including hydro, geothermal and gas turbine. We employ over 500 people throughout New Zealand, and place great emphasis on their training and development. Our head office is in Wellington and we have two customer service call centres, in Levin and Dunedin.


The Correspondence School
The Correspondence School has around 500 teaching and support staff based across the school’s four sites in Wellington. Department of Internal Affairs
The Department of Internal Affairs employs about 1,000 people in 19 locations throughout New Zealand, plus offices in Sydney and London. The Department serves and connects citizens, communities and government to build a strong, safe nation.

Department of Labour
The DOL provide services in Immigration, employment relations, occupational safety and health and community employment. The Department employs approximately 1,570 staff with a wide range of professional skills, knowledge and experience to support New Zealanders’ working lives. Foodstuffs (Wellington) Co-op Society Ltd
Foodstuffs (Wellington) Co-Operative Society Limited is one of three regionally separate, autonomous, retailer-owned co-operative companies that comprise the Foodstuffs group of companies. Hutt Valley District Health Board
The Hutt Valley District Health Board is responsible for planning, prioritising, funding and providing government-funded health care and disability support services for the 135,000 people that live in the Hutt Valley. Inland Revenue Department
Inland Revenue has 22 sites nationwide and employs over 4,700 staff. We collect most of the revenue that government needs to fund its programmes. We also administer a number of social support programmes.

In total, Interislander employs 567 full time staff. 68 work in the Head Office environment, 98 at the terminals, and 401 onboard the ships themselves. Parliamentary Service
The Parliamentary Service provides administrative and support services to the House of Representatives and members of Parliament. The services include providing members with secretarial and personal assistance; members’ and ex-members’ travel; research and information services; catering services and looking after the buildings and the way they run. We are the largest employer in the parliamentary complex employing approximately 350 people on site and another 220 people (out of Parliament staff) in the regions.
