Default Sole Trader on a working partnership visa

    Hi,

I've been in NZ now for around 1.5 years. The first year was on a working holiday visa which I was employed for. I have just gotten a 2 year working partnership visa which I'm 5 months into.

My job was outsourced back in June but I'm now self employed under the sole trader category via Internet Marketing.

I'm a UK citizen but left the UK in May 2011.

I'm trying to work out my tax options, if I should be also paying the UK tax as well as NZ income tax.

If anyone can shed some light on this, it would be most welcome.

    Thanks

    G'day!

I should say that I'm not a tax expert but based on the 183 day rule you should be paying your tax to IRD in NZ. UK and NZ have a double taxation agreement which means you will not have to pay tax in both countries.
